Certn, one of Victoria’s fastest-growing tech firms, announced its second acquisition of the year: an Australian company called InterCheck. The business provides a range of employment background checks and candidate screening services.

The deal is meant to diversify Certn’s global reach while enabling InterCheck’s clients to access Certn’s platform, which can run background checks in more than 200 countries and territories.

Hayden Langhorn, founder and managing director of InterCheck, says joining Certn will allow his team to augment their product offerings and geographical reach. “Certn shares our mission of providing the best customer experience and I couldn’t be more proud to join them,” he said.

Founded in 2016, Certn specializes in conducting background checks. Employers and landlords use it to streamline candidate screening processes and reduce costs. In July, six months after it bought U.K.-based Credence – another background check firm – Certn hired an executive to oversee markets in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. In addition, it raised $65 million in Series B funding this past Spring.
