DJ software acquisition is music to Tiny's ears
Victoria-based tech holding company Tiny announced a new addition to its portfolio on Monday after signing an agreement to acquire a 66 percent interest in Serato Audio Research, a DJ and music production software business.
Since 1999, Serato has been working with DJs, producers, engineers, and musicians from around the world to create and share music. Most recently, it released Serato HexFX: a multi-FX plugin built to help producers and sound designers add colour, energy, and movement to their tracks, transitions, and mixes.
"We've always believed that Serato's strength lies in our ability to innovate and stay true to our community of artists,” said AJ Wilderland, co-founder of Serato. “After 25 years of building and guiding this business with my co-founder Steve, we couldn't ask for a better partner than Tiny. Their long-term vision and strategic approach align with the future we've always envisioned for Serato.
“This partnership not only accelerates our growth but also provides the ideal long-term home for the next chapter of the business we've nurtured from the ground up."
Working closely with Serato’s management team, which is set to stay in place following the acquisition, Tiny says that it has developed a plan for rapid growth, including a focus on advancing the product roadmap, strengthening digital marketing efforts, and applying other operational best practices.
Editors’ note: Tiny co-founder Andrew Wilkinson is an owner of Overstory Media Group, Victoria Tech Journal’s parent company.
