Island spotlight: Archipelago

Source: Archipelago

Archipelago is no novice to the Island’s ocean technology scene—the company has been around since 1978.

Having identified an opportunity in fisheries monitoring, Archipelago uses a combination of people power and technology to support sustainability in fisheries. Used onboard fishing vessels (individual or fleet), Archipelago’s electronic monitoring technology uses sensors and cameras to send users data, including fish counts, size of the fish, and bycatch.

In addition to monitoring in fisheries, Archipelago also provides environmental monitoring, working with government and industry to protect the marine environment.
