KPMG in Canada has acquired the assets and technologies of Victoria-based LlamaZOO Interactive, a move that strengthens the professional services firm’s play in spatial business intelligence and digital twin technologies.
The seven-person LlamaZOO team—including co-founders Charles Lavigne and Kevin Oke—has joined KPMG’s Ignition innovation hub and will continue to operate out of the company’s Victoria office. The acquisition includes LlamaZOO’s proprietary technology platform and suite of 2D and 3D decision-making tools, which help organizations simulate real-world scenarios and improve planning using AI and machine learning.
“The addition of LlamaZOO’s technology and expertise allows KPMG to combine its artificial intelligence discipline with real-time digital twin technologies,” said Matt Grant, KPMG Canada’s Director of Digital Twins and Spatial Computing. “This positions us to support Canadian and global organizations with immersive tools that enable intelligent decision-making, scenario planning and analysis.”
Grant will lead KPMG’s newly enhanced Digital Twin Centre of Excellence, which will serve clients across Canada and beyond—particularly in industries critical to energy, infrastructure, and trade.
LlamaZOO, founded in 2014, spent the past decade developing a platform that helps users engage with complex datasets by visualizing them in digital environments. The technology has been used in mining, forestry, and infrastructure projects, offering customers ways to make high-stakes decisions faster and more accurately.
“Together with KPMG, our shared vision of making Canadian and global organizations more agile, innovative and productive takes a major leap forward,” said Lavigne, who now joins KPMG’s team. “We look forward to building new possibilities together.”
