Back in 2020, when COVID lockdowns kicked in, most community meetups were either shut down completely or forced to move online. That was the case for ProductTank Victoria, a meetup for product managers in the city that enabled attendees to exchange ideas and experiences about product design, development and management, user experience, metrics, and more.

But the group just announced that their in-person gatherings are back, with the first one slated to take place on October 27 at the head office of Redbrick. For anyone that can’t make it IRL, a Zoom feed will be available starting at 5:45 p.m.

For this Fall event, ProductTank Victoria has invited two speakers to discuss product alignment and product-led growth, respectively. The first speaker is one of ProductTank Victoria’s founders, Bryan Clark. Clark has had several senior product roles including Mozilla and GitHub, and now he is senior director of product management with TimeScale, a cloud database platform.

“Often as product managers grow and gain experience, they seek ownership or independence over their area of responsibility,” Clark explains on the event's promotional page. “While ownership is a good thing, I'm going to talk about how alignment is far more important for you and your team.”

The second speaker is Dave Firnstahl, director of product of Leadpages, based out of Minneapolis. He will be discussing their problem-first approach to product-led growth and how they are using it to find a solution to help their customers overcome their fear of copywriting.

Food for the event will be provided by ProductTank Victoria’s main sponsor for the evening, Redbrick. Swans Pub is chipping in as the drink provider.

📈 Milestone: Frontly, a no-code platform that raised $350,000 back in June, recently announced that it surpassed 2,000 users. “When I started building Frontly's no-code front-end development platform in August 2021, I didn't even know that 'no code' was a category 😂,” Patrick Kelly, the startup’s CEO posted on LinkedIn. “A little over a year later, I'm astonished to see how much momentum there is in the 'no code' space.”

💙 Mindful: VIATEC CEO Dan Gunn opened up about his struggles with mental health in a LinkedIn post. As well, he invited the community to share any tactics, tips, or resources that others have found valuable for themselves. He concluded: “Being open and vulnerable about this has been a critical part of my recovery. I'm ALWAYS ready to sit down and chat if you need someone to talk to.”
