Today, we’re featuring Mike Stephens, managing director at Go Power.
Describe your company.
Go Power is the number-one provider of mobile power systems and solar solutions for the recreation vehicle and utility vehicle markets around North America and beyond. Today, we continue down the path of innovation, offering new ideas and improving existing products for the markets we serve.
What problem is your company solving and how is it solving it?
We provide widely distributed cost-effective solar charging solutions, energy storage, and power conversion products for mobile applications. This allows users to be self-sufficient without reliance on the grid.
What’s a recent milestone or breakthrough your company is proud of?
The creation of our new dual-charging system for commercial delivery vehicles. The “Phantom” uses the power generated by low-profile solar modules mounted on the delivery van to charge both the liftgate batteries and the onboard pallet jack batteries. The Phantom automatically changes the voltage to meet the needs of the different devices: either 12 volt or 24 volt. It also boosts the voltage of the power created by the alternator. This allows the necessary voltage to reach the batteries in the back of the trailer and provides an optimal charge, eliminating line loss. The Phantom reduces or eliminates problems on inner-city delivery vehicles. The extra power increases the duty cycle for electric liftgates, keeps the pallet jack charged, maintains healthy batteries for longer life, and allows delivery operators to meet anti-idling laws.
What makes Victoria a great place to build a technology business?
The vibrant tech community and the people that make it all work.
