It was an exciting week for University of Victoria researchers, as nine scholars were awarded funding for health-related research through two different programs.

Five UVic researchers were chosen for Michael Smith Health Research BC’s 2024 cohort. The post-secondary institution explained that “the program provides $90,000 per year for five years for salary support, to allow the researchers to commit to spending 75 percent of their time on research.”

For the UVic professors receiving funding, that research ranges from contextualizing patient-reported data to researching dementia communities.

Meanwhile, through the Canadian Institutes of Health Research Project Grant competition, four more UVic scholars received a total of $3.5 million for initiatives focused on advancing “health-related fundamental or applied knowledge, health research, health care, health systems and health outcomes.”
