On December 18, the world stopped. Sure, the Earth still rotated and the sun still rose and the grass still grew. But for 120 minutes (plus a penalty shootout), it felt like every ounce of our collective being was transfixed on the 2022 World Cup Final. For a large number of viewers in Latin America, where this sort of thing has a religious following, they tuned in thanks to Victoria-based Vecima Networks.
Vecima delivers software, services, and integrated platforms that power broadband and video streaming networks. For the 2022 World Cup, it partnered with a marquee service provider in Latin America to deliver a streaming solution for the matches. According to Vecima, the tournament garnered the service provider’s largest viewership and a record number of video streams across nine countries in the region. Vecima provided its MediaScale Origin and Edge Cache software to ensure high-quality video streaming. Plus, Vecima’s Professional Services team provided continuous proactive monitoring. This featured customized, real-time, site-by-site dashboards to pinpoint any streaming issues that could arise.
“The World Cup is Latin America’s largest sporting event, and video streaming quality was our top priority,” said Kyle Goodwin, SVP and general manager, content delivery and storage for Vecima. “We’re proud of our MediaScale solution’s performance and the real-time visibility and insights Vecima provided to our customer. It demonstrates the reliability and quality of MediaScale for global events like the World Cup to help operators manage explosive demand while delivering pristine video streaming.”
The 2022 World Cup’s matches, particularly its final, have already been billed as some of the best ever. Vecima made sure global diehards witnessed them live.
