VIATEC elects new board amid tech sector momentum

The Victoria Innovation, Advanced Technology and Entrepreneurship Council held its Annual General Meeting at Fort Tectoria this week, electing 14 directors to guide the organization through what CEO Dan Gunn described as a significant upswing for the local tech community. The board includes seven re-elected members, six returning directors, and one new face—David Climie.

The organization thanked Jennifer Hartfield from BCI for wrapping up her service on the board after helping steer the community's direction. The AGM drew a packed room that included both members and newcomers curious about VIATEC's programs and what's coming next.

Gunn pointed to a busy slate of events and programs as signs of the sector's energy, from the BOOST accelerator to Victoria Tech Week and the Prompt Victoria AI Conference. Fort Tectoria is running at near capacity, and Gunn says it's "the most momentum we've enjoyed since before the pandemic."
